Dreaming of Larger, More Youthful Breasts?
Before and After Photos
Aging, drooping breasts can leave you feeling and looking older than you are. Many women feel embarrassed by their empty, sagging breasts, especially in social and intimate situations. You may even feel that your breasts make you look less feminine. Some women struggle to find clothing, bras and swimsuits that fit their unflattering, drooping breasts.Drooping or sagging breasts can be caused by a number of factors including pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, aging, and gravity.
There are three medical conditions caused by sagging or drooping breasts. These are:
- Ptosis where the breasts sag and the nipples point downward, past the inframammary crease – the crease beneath the breast. This is caused by breastfeeding, weight loss and aging.
- Empty Sac Syndrome where the breast has lost fullness however the nipple and areola have remained in their normal place.
- Pseudoptosis which is similar to Empty Sac Syndrome however the breast lacks fullness above the nipple, rather than below it.
Natural Looking Breast Lift with Implants in Sydney!
If this sounds like you, then you might want to consider Breast Lift with Implants. This procedure, also known as “Masto-Augmentation” or “Augmentation Mastopexy”. This surgery uses implants to lift and enlarge your sagging, drooping breasts. Breast Lift with Implants procedures are best for women who not only want to readjust the location of their breasts, but also enlarge them for more balanced proportions. This can help you achieve better cleavage, firmer and fuller breasts, and more aesthetically placed nipples.
Many women want to know if they need breast implants with their breast lift. Some women who have good skin elasticity and breast tissue only require a breast lift. However, women who have decreased breast tissue or who are looking to augment the size of their breast do better with Breast Lift with Implants procedures.
The suitability of your breast implant size, shape and type will depend on your consultation with your surgeon, your body type, your degree of ptosis, your desired shape and your desired size. Working in collaboration with Dr. Drielsma will ensure that your breasts will achieve the most aesthetically beautiful look possible.
You can also have corrective nipple and areola surgery to correct the position of your nipples, if needed, at the same time as your breast lift surgery. If you suffer from inverted nipples, disproportionate nipples, or nipple hypertrophy this will also be adjusted during your surgery.
What Type of Implants?
When considering Breast Lift with Implants surgery, it is important to discuss the best type of implant for your body, desired size, and desired shape. There are a number of implants available in different sizes, shapes, textures and fillers.
Saline Filled Implants
Saline implants have a “water bed” feel and have been known to cause a “ripple effect” on the surface of the breast. This can occur when the patient has small amounts of breast tissue to begin with and the ripple of the saline within the implant can be seen on the skin surface.
These problems can be reduced by using smooth surfaced, round implants that are overfilled – within manufacturer specifications – resulting in an implant that is more firm to the touch. This can make the implant look more spherical or round, rather than a more natural teardrop shape.
However, if saline implants deflate, they do so quickly and the saline is easily absorbed by the body.
Silicone Gel Filled Implants
Silicone Implants are designed to have a more natural feel, similar to that of breast tissue. They are found to hold their shape better than saline implants and tend not to deflate – though in very rare instances these implants can rupture, however.
There is also an increased risk of capsule contracture or hardening of the breast with silicone implants.
Smooth Surfaced Implants
Smooth implants have a softer feel and are easier to insert. They most closely mimic the feel of real breast tissue.
Textured Surfaced Implants
Textured implants have a least natural feel than smooth implants. However, textured implants use their rough surface to better adhere to the surrounding breast tissue. This means it is less likely to move or slip like a smooth textured implant.
Round implants are less natural looking than tear drop or anatomically shaped implants. These implants can give better lift than naturally shaped implants or to create contrast between the upper and lower parts of the breast. Round implants can come in both smooth and textured surfaces. If a round implant rotates in the breast pocket, it doesn’t tend to affect the breast shape.
Tear Drop or Anatomical Implants
Anatomical implants tend to be more versatile than round implants. The tear drop shape gives a more natural look to the breast and often better results depending on your desired outcome. However, if the implant rotates in the breast pocket, it needs to be repositioned to recover the natural shape of the breast. Anatomical implants are also only available in textured surfaces.
What Size Implants?
Choosing your post-operative cup sizes doesn’t always mean you’ll fit exactly into that size however in general you will be able to augment your breasts to fit your body size, your skin elasticity, your lifestyle, and your final desired look.
Dr. Drielsma focuses on balance and body proportions when it comes to helping patients choose their final breast size and shape. Patients should consider their height, weight, chest width and the balance between their upper and lower body when deciding on their desired breast size.
There is no one size fits all when it comes to choosing your breast implant size and final breast or cup size. It is best to discuss your options with Dr. Drielsma in your personal consultations.
Breast Lift with Implants Scarring?
All surgery produces scars and plastic surgery is no different. Dr. Drielsma has pioneered the “Lollipop” incision technique in Australia that reduces the amount of scarring on the surface of the breast. Following your post-operative and recovery instructions will also help minimise your scarring, however scarring will depend on the incision ultimately used, your skin laxity, and how your body naturally scars.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I Get More Cleavage From a Breast Lift with Implants?
Increased and improved cleavage is easily achievable with Breast Lift with Implants procedures. The ultimate outcome will depend on your desired outcome and your consultation with Dr. Drielsma.
How is a Breast Lift with Implants Procedure Performed?
The breast is lifted by removing excess breast skin and tightening the remaining skin. In the cae where the breast has also lost volume and tissue, an implant is added to aid and improve the overall look of the breast lift. The breast implant fills up the extra space within the breast, to remove the empty or deflated look. In most cases the implant is placed beneath your pectoral muscle as placing the implant above the muscle can accelerate ptosis rather than relieve it.
How Much Downtime is there with a Breast Lift with Implants surgery?
Your procedure will take around 2-3 hours, though this can differ depending on your body, desired results and the positioning of your implants. You will be able to return to work after 2 weeks and return to normal physical activity within 6 weeks.
There will be visible bruising that should fade within 2 weeks and swelling that will begin to subside after 3 weeks. Keep in mind that it can take 12 months for your breasts to finally settle into their final shape, size and position.
Do not return to vigorous exercise until you are cleared by Dr. Drielsma and ensure you always wear a supportive bra while exercising.
Are There Pre-Operative Requirements?
You may need medical clearance from your GP before having surgery. This can involve providing Dr. Drielsma with blood tests, imaging and letters from your GP. You should stop smoking at least 4 weeks before surgery and stop any aspirin or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) at least one week before surgery to avoid blood thinning complications.
What Happens During Recovery?
You are given specific instructions to follow during your post-operative recovery period. Following these instructions closely will help you recover quicker and minimise your future scarring.
You are likely to experience swelling and discomfort for 4-6 weeks and should avoid strenuous activity or heavy lifting during this time.
Pain management will be discussed and customised to suit your individual needs. This will be discussed and organised during your consultations with Dr. Drielsma.
Are There Risks?
There are risks with any surgical procedure, as such there are some potential risks when it comes to plastic surgery. Complications are rare but they can include infections, keloid scars, seroma (the accumulation of fluid), wrinkling, leaking or rupture of the implant, capsular contracture, and asymmetry. Common side effects of breast lift with implants surgery are bruising and swelling.
What is the Cost of Breast Lift with Implants Surgery?
The cost of breast lift surgery will differ from surgeon to surgeon, so be sure to do your research before making your final decision. Be wary of cheap surgery, especially overseas or “tourist” surgeries, which can result in dangerous complications and expensive revisional surgery. This is your body, don’t settle for second best or cheap procedures!
